Launch School’s methodology is founded in slowly mastering the fundamentals so that you can comprehend how higher level abstractions work from the ground up. Containing two main phases - Core Curriculum and Capstone - the online program is for those who aren’t brand new to programming and are serious about becoming professional developers.

Course Report Rating:
5/5

Curriculum offered:
Fundamentals of programming and software engineering including HTML, CSS, Ruby on Rails, and object-oriented JavaScript.

Program length: Approximately 8-16+ months to complete. After that, there is an optional and admissions-based Capstone Program that's focused on helping students acquire career-launching opportunities. The Capstone Program takes 3 months full-time and employs an income sharing agreement where students pay after they get a job offer.

Cost:
$199 / month

Learning setup:
Independent, self-paced (the capstone is instructor-led)

Career coaching: Students who complete the Capstone Program will receive career guidance, and be exposed to algorithmic thinking that employers demand. The income sharing agreement means Launch School is incentivized to help graduates find a job.

Median salary for graduates: $115,411 within 12 weeks of graduation

Lambda School’s business model: students pay a portion of their tuition only after they find a high paying job (over 50K annually), with the total amount charged capped at 30K total. If you don't find a job or don't reach that level of income, you'll never pay a cent. Amazing, right? Also, their company is 90% remote. Woot, woot!

9 months full-time, 18 months part-time

17% of your post-Lambda School income with 24 monthly payments, but only when you're making more than $50k per year. For example, if you get a job paying $60,000/year, you’re earning $5,000 per month. 17% of $5,000 is $850, so you pay $850 that month for your Income Share Agreement.
